About ME

About me:

I’m Devin!

First and foremost, I have Bipolar and since 2018, I’ve been writing a mental wellness blog (ehem…right here) where I chat about both the challenges that show up as a Bipolar person, and about the blessing that it’s been. I like to encourage people to see their “labels” (as Nathan Todd so perfectly says) as not something that IS their identity, but simply something that shapes their resilience, strength and grit.

Building community is one of my favorite things. I have a loving community on Facebook called The Bold Entrepreneur where we connect, collaborate and co-work weekly together. We love supporting each other, and it makes my heart happy. (Please feel free to join us if you’d like a more connected community).

I’m an Intuitive Mindset Coach and Reiki Practitioner. Many of you also know me from my former career in Speech-Language Pathology! Since 2019, I’ve been helping passionate people transform their minds and their courage, relationships, and businesses so they can stand in their power and confidence when they show up for themselves and others! I’m also a certified Reiki practitioner, as I’ve been owning my intuitive gifts over this past year (deep thanks to Danielle Laura). Here’s a bit more about me as a person:

I’m obsessed with rescue dogs. I have a mission to show rescue pups that they are worthy of love and warm homes. I’ve fostered 16 dogs, from 8-week-old puppies to 7 year old surrendered dogs. I’ve also rescued 4 dogs myself (not at one time, of course). My two little loves are named Stella and Houston and they’re sweet, goofy mutts! In the future, I plan to run a rescue dog sanctuary to give them alllll a loving, warm, and socialized home and safe space.

It’s been my lifelong dream to live in California. I grew up in Connecticut, and I remember as a kid, always imagining myself on the beaches of California, as happy and as healthy as I’ve ever been. In March 2021, I actualized that dream and moved to Los Angeles, 3 years before I even planned. I’m so grateful, and I LOVE all of my friends and community there. They make all the challenges and transitions so worth it. I’ve since moved back to Connecticut to help out and be near my family, who are near and dear to my heart. My ultimate goal is to move them back to California with me (whether they accept it for not!). Lol.

I have severe scoliosis and all throughout growing up, I was told by doctors, “you can’t do that. You’ll hurt yourself,” ANY time it came down to sports, phys ed, physical extracurriculars. I formed this really deep rooted belief that I couldn’t really do any physical activities, until THIS YEAR finally broke that belief and I started exercising daily. I finally realized that my body is capable of SOOO much more than I ever knew, and at 30 years old, I’m in the best shape and health of my life. Thank you Danielle Spaulding for helping me get here.

Finally, in 2020 I started modeling for the purpose of adding more creative expression and fun into my life. I’m so glad I did, because it’s been really liberating for my heart and soul. I’m now also a freelance model in L.A. and it’s super cool to be shooting with all these dope photographers! This beach pic below is from one of my recent shoots with @Mae Mikelle, who I highly suggest you work with if you’re in California.

I’ll leave the rest to you to discover in my blog…

Happy reading!

With love,

Devinro
